Fox & Brie

Meet Our New Social Media Intern!

Austin Couillard | Fox & Brie Social Media Intern

We’re so happy to welcome Austin Couillard to the Fox & Brie family!

Here’s a bit more about our new social media intern:
Austin is an advertising major at The University of Texas at Austin and a coffee connoisseur, always in search for the perfect caramel latte. Right now, he’s probably jamming to some off-the-wall dance hit walking down the street.  Austin is also an upcoming artist in the Austin, TX art scene.

Check out some of Austin’s work on his website: AustinCouillard.com

Woodland Wedding Inspiration

We recently collaborated with an insanely talented group of people for an autumn-inspired woodland wedding shoot. Tweed, lace, jewel-tones, s’mores(!!)—everything about this is my favorite and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

A big thanks to Ashley from Ashley D Photography and Carlene from Naturally Yours Events for coordinating the shoot & including our Eggplant Linen bow tie in the mix. These girls are seriously talented & an absolute pleasure to work with. The shoot was featured on Green Wedding Shoes this week, but I also wanted to share a few of my favorite photos.

Enjoy!

MSAMA-2014

I’m honored to announce that Fox & Brie has been selected as a Style Finalist in the Martha Stewart 2014 American Made Awards! Check out our maker profile to learn more about our journey & process, as well as our vision for the future of Fox & Brie!

Fox & Brie - Martha Stewart American Made Award

Here’s where you come in: voting run from September 15 – October 13. We would really love your support, so head on over to our maker profile, cast your vote, and share the page via Facebook & Twitter. You’re allowed 6 votes each day, so that’s 174 chances to vote!

Now, please don’t think I’m trying to steal all of your votes…you could also share the love with some of the other amazing finalists. I’ll be posting profiles on a few of my favorite makers over the coming weeks, so you can see more of the incredible talent that is being handmade right here in the USA.

But for now…HOORAY!

Haven’t heard of the American Made Awards? You can read the FAQ on the website, but here’s a quick overview:

American Made spotlights the maker, supports the local, and celebrates the handmade. The program is made up of people and communities that have turned their passion for quality craftsmanship and well-designed goods into a way of life. Martha Stewart and the editors of Martha Stewart Living are spotlighting the next generation of great American makers: entrepreneurs, artisans, and small-business owners who are creating beautiful, inspiring, useful products; pioneering new industries; improving local communities; and changing the way we eat, shop, work, and live.

The 10 award winners will receive: $10,000 to grow your business; a trip for two to New York City to attend the American Made event; a spot in our American Made Market; a video produced by our in-house team; and the opportunity to be featured in Martha Stewart Living magazine, on SiriusXM radio, and on our website.

Fox & Brie Studio Tour

Recently, the folks from Renegade Craft stopped by the studio for a tour & interview. It was such a pleasure to share my space & thoughts with them and now I’d like to share a little with you.

This is just a quick highlight, you can check out the full tour & interview on their blog. Enjoy!

Sometimes, it’s going to be the worst. You’re going to face exhaustion, self-doubt, failures, naysayers, and every other problem you didn’t even know existed. Some days you may look in the mirror and ask yourself, “What am I even doing here?”

Keep going. It means you’re on the right track.

If you are so afraid of failure that you never take risks, the best you can hope for is mediocrity. Failure is essential to creativity. Embrace your mistakes as a chance to grow, learn what doesn’t work and then find out what does. Become an expert at your craft and continue to experiment with new techniques & designs. Each time you overcome an obstacle, you will grow stronger and more confident in your
abilities and in yourself. Yes, sometimes owning a creative business is the worst, but it is also the most rewarding, fulfilling, fantastic experience of my life and it has made me a better person in spite of myself.

Just keep going.
